Here at 2527 Lawnswood Squadron staying healthy and active is a high priority, as such our squadron holds regular sports and fitness nights. Our aim is to ensure that all cadets maintain a good level of fitness while at the same time enjoying themselves. Our sporting activities encourage as much team work as possible to get the best out of the Cadets and bringing out the leadership traits in them all.
Our sporting programs consist of circuit sessions and regular RAF entry fitness test as well as a variety of sporting activities. Football, Basketball, Tennis and swimming are just some of the many sports that we take part in here at 2527 and for those that want to take it a step further; there are opportunities to represent the squadron in football, rugby, hockey and netball at senior and junior tournaments that take place each year. Progression can be made from there to eventually play for and represent the corps in your chosen sport.
If track and field is your thing there is plenty of opportunity for athletics events with running sessions at the squadron on sports nights as well as the annual Wing Athletics in which you will have the opportunity to represent the 2527 Squadron, competing against all other squadrons in the wing for medals and trophies. There is again the chance to progress forward with this representing the corps.
We understand that sports are not for everyone and so we try to accommodate everyone’s strengths as best as possible. Our aim is to ensure that every person can pass the basic RAF fitness test as a minimum to prepare those hoping to join the Armed Forces, and for those that aren’t, having a good standard of fitness can only be positive for all future endeavours.
